In six months of coaching with Jamie, I went from working around 70 hours a week, on weekends, to a normal work week, ending at 6pm.
I've been able to take all of my vacation time.
I advocated for and on-boarded two new full-time staff members on my team.
I've better negotiated work to create better work-life balance, not just for me, but for my entire team.
Thank you so much for helping me to prepare for my comp convo with my manager! I’m happy to report it went well!
He thanked me for letting him know about what I wanted (10% salary increase). He will also check if I’m eligible for a merit-based grant refresh for more RSUs (equity).
I’m proud of myself for advocating for myself. I’m also really proud of myself for reaching a place where my manager acknowledges, respects, and values my work, especially given our rocky start.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me with that!
(Few months after the interview)
I got promoted to Senior Software Engineer!
I got the raise and stock refresh that I requested.
I got my dream job, pretty high profile position, the job I wanted for years, because I learned to advocate for myself through coaching with Jamie.
I'm a different person now. I require different things, I speak up for myself, I ask questions when I don't know the answers and I don't necessarily feel any kind of shame or anything around that.
These are things that plagued me for years, things that held me back. And now that I've learned better ways to handle situations, that would just be moving backwards, and I'm all about progress.
(Few months after the interview) I have officially transitioned into a new role as an Executive Director.
As you know, my goal for 2021 was to position myself for an ED promotion.
I'm thrilled to have hit the milestone several months early.
Thank you for your coaching and guidance along the way; you helped me demonstrate my value to my company (and to myself) in a way that set me up to land this promotion.
Coaching with Jamie is about seizing the full breadth of opportunity available to me.
After being turned down for a role, I said yes to an informal meeting with the hiring manager who gave me a second chance.
Within a year, I was promoted to product marketing manager and earned a bonus.
Coaching is helping me maintain control even in challenging situations and take good care of myself, which will take me to new heights.
(Few months after the interview) Lots to celebrate! They’re announcing my promotion today.
The VP reiterated I'm a leader at Indeed, and the future of the company.
Thanks for your ongoing support and coaching.
Before coaching, I was suffering from imposter syndrome, lack of self-confidence. I felt intimidated to be around other smart people who have more experience than I do.
Coaching with Jamie was not generalized and was more personalized to my individual needs. There was that missing puzzle piece that gave me the how to achieve my goal.
And I did not get that from the videos, the podcasts and reading books.
Through coaching, I built the confidence to go into meetings, not worrying about what other people may think.
One time, when I had to present my research, I noticed I was focused on myself, I knew the material and I was just focused on delivering my message to others. And it turned out to be one of the best presentations I gave.
So having that confidence, it spreads to other areas and it shows.
Before coaching with Jamie, I was very quiet about what I brought to the table.
Coming to terms with that, learning to speak up for myself, has been a life-changing experience for me.
I got promoted to manager position at a COVID testing company.
Before coaching, I felt stuck, like I constantly had to look over my shoulder on high alert because I’d once been in a gross place with toxic office politics.
I’d just left that workplace and wanted to approach new opportunities with tools to help me navigate my path forward with greater confidence.
Through the coaching process, I gained a whole library of tools, which is incredible. I learned several different neuroplasticity tools and an internal wisdom model from Jamie.
Even more than I expected, I got out of the stuck place in my mind. Externally, I secured a full-time offer and initiated conversations about a promotion. At work, I got comfortable sharing my ideas and singing my own praises, which led to me receiving more appreciation, not less.
Beyond the impact on my career confidence, coaching has helped me cultivate a healthier relationship with myself.
I have boundaries now. I prioritize taking care of myself and advocating for what I want, and I have so much more clarity around that. This clarity positively affects how I communicate, plan, and do everything, which is amazing.
Additionally, as someone who considers herself on the neuro-spicy spectrum, I let go of limiting beliefs around my vivid imagination, now seeing it as a powerful tool in my toolkit.
Overall, I feel I gained much more clarity, confidence, and a healthier relationship with myself through coaching with Jamie, and I know I’ll be taking the tools with me for the rest of my career.
I came across Jamie when she came to present at Citi Group headquarters during the Asian American Heritage month.
Through our coaching sessions, Jamie’s non-judgmental, insightful, and calming probing questions helped me connect my skillsets with a practical action plan to move into a career direction I’ve been vaguely yet deeply passionate about all along the way.
Jamie helped me reconnect with my self-trust. I connected the dots and am ready to catapult myself into the future I can now clearly envision.
Through coaching with Jamie, I’ve made massive strides in reducing stress around conversations at work, as a sales lead at a tech startup.
I’m no longer ruminating, or playing conversations over and over again in my head in an anxious loop, feeling like “Everything is so important,” or “They’re trying to make me look stupid.”
This was a pattern I struggled with across my whole career, and the impact of this change is HUGE for me.
I’m now more able to trust and accept my own choices, and be more focused on doing my job well while actually enjoying it.
I’ve become more centered in my leadership, clear in my communication, and have ease pursuing my goals, both in and outside of my career.
Investing in a coach felt so indulgent at the time. I had competing priorities and expectations in life being a human, mom, wife, dutiful daughter, professional.
Jamie gave me the tools to live as the person I do deeply desire to be, prioritizing those expectations which allow me to thrive. I found her to be productive, professional and genuine.
I am forever grateful for the moments of care and intimacy which she granted me as I processed personal loss. It helped me become a version of myself that:
- Is present and joyful even with work deadlines and a young kid
- Can create mental space that helps me reach and exceed my home and professional goals
- Communicate in a way that is professional and authentic to myself.
Through coaching with Jamie, I learned how to keep difficult relationships at work professional and have productive conversations while being open and advocating for myself.
This is a skill I will continue to hone and build upon as I continue in my career.
Additionally, I got the support I needed to negotiate a job offer for higher pay.
I grew my confidence through this experience. I feel ready and excited to take on the challenges of a new role as the kind of leader I want to be.
In the six months of coaching with Jamie, I learned to negotiate for bigger role and responsibilities. Most importantly, I learned to influence others without authority.
As a result, I have grown my confidence, expanded my scope of role and become a more well-rounded people manager.
What changed me the most is learning that anything is negotiable, including project timelines, comp packages and resources.
As an Asian woman who came to the States as an adult and who used to struggle with a lot of invisible “ceilings" in the corporate world, I enjoyed working with another Asian female leader who understands my cultural background and gender-based challenges to thrive in the workplace.
I highly recommend Jame Lee as an executive coach for other female leaders who are keen to grow their confidence in negotiation, becoming an influencer and building a personal brand of thought leadership in any industry.
I've passed my professional engineering license exam and I received a promotion to Manager of Engineering with a pay increase equal to my peers -- just as I set out to do at the beginning of our coaching journey. To help with workload, we took on an engineering intern and I'm hoping we can hire her when she graduates in December.
Thank you for encouraging me to believe in myself.
Through coaching, I improved my communication skills and my confidence in the workplace. I now see the ripple effect on my career. My managers and superiors actually see me as a leader. I have more influence, and people are now coming to me as someone they can rely on and whose opinions are valued.
Coaching has been truly life changing, and I highly recommend it.
Before coaching, I struggled with imposter syndrome, thinking I am not enough. To compensate, I was overworking as if diligence was all I needed to get ahead in life and in career.
I felt exhausted. As if a dark cloud constantly loomed over my head.
I wasn't treating myself with the respect I deserved. I wasn't creating boundaries for myself. I appeared less confident despite being a sole owner of a project.
Coaching with Jamie was refreshing. It helped me build confidence and foster internal assurance in the way I approach work.
Instead of trying to assess what was going on around me based on other people's point of view, Jamie prioritized my own assessment and helped me build confidence in looking to myself for the action plans.
After coaching, I found myself as the true owner of my career. I no longer needed to constantly seek validation from my management and/or colleagues.
I wasn't as afraid to speak up and began giving myself the respect, boundaries, and space that I needed to be in the driver's seat of my career.
Before coaching with Jamie, I used to think that I couldn't be a manager because I lacked something, or that I'd have to master everything to get promoted. This mindset had me feeling stuck in my accounting career.
Through six months of coaching, I came to see that I don't have to know everything to add value and to advocate for myself.
Instead of hoping to be noticed and communicating less, I started communicating more in career development conversations with my managers about my career goals. As a result, I now see myself more on a level playing field with managers and other educated people.
One of the things I most enjoyed about coaching with Jamie is learning to envision goals achieved in the future. When I practice the emotion of having goals done, I bring more confidence to my work now. Because of this, I was able to implement a solution that reduced the amount of work for my team by 80% and confidently claimed credit for this achievement.
I now believe that I'm on the right path for the career growth I want. I feel more confident about my competence as an accountant. I have regained the sense of control over my career, and I have the conviction that I will become promoted.
Coaching with Jamie has been and will be an essential part of my career growth and success.
Before coaching, there were a lot of situations I used to take personally at work, especially when dealing with difficult people.
After coaching, I am able to manage my mind so that I don't react out of instinct, but from an intentional and thoughtful place that is calm and confident.
I'm getting better at maintaining relationships with difficult people, both in and out of the workplace. I'm also gettting better at giving myself permission to go for the things I want in my career, because I believe I am ready and good enough for what I want.
With Jamie's help, I successfully asked for a promotion and started taking action towards my dream career.
I started to work with Jamie when my firm was undergoing change and pursuing a relocation strategy. I was unhappy and I wanted to figure out what my next steps were.
I was afraid of change but if I stayed, I needed to learn better ways to cope.
I am so thankful to have had her as my coach during this time. Jamie is a great listener, supportive and encouraging. Her questions had me seeing how “everything is neutral” and thinking, feeling and acting like I had control over my own career.
With her coaching, I was able to navigate through my moments of self-doubt and insecurity. I pursued networking opportunities with confidence and an open mind.
I am happy and proud to say that I have decided to make a bold and brave move and get better paid with Jamie’s coaching.
I had an amazing experience working with Jamie as a coach. She was able to identify themes that I hadn’t noticed in how I respond to challenges, helping me figure out where my behaviors were (and were not) serving me, and find (and practice) new ways of responding.
Changing long-entrenched beliefs and behaviors takes time, and I’m so glad I made the investment of working with her.
I’ve stepped away from unfulfilling work, am being braver about owning what I want in my life, and am being kinder to myself in the process.
Jamie is a dynamic, powerful, coach who is simultaneously compassionate and motivating. Jamie helped me enter the world of negotiating and find my inner “master negotiator.” She also helped me quiet my inner critic, so that I could access and empower my true inner voice.
I initially sought out coaching because I received feedback that I lack executive presence. Through working with Jamie, I realized I had never lost my capacity to work with executives, get their buy-in, and lead projects to completion -- everything I associated with executive presence. As a result, I was able to confidently express my potential at job interviews and receive positive feedback.
Raise, bonus and market adjustment totaling a 26% salary increase back paid to the day I brought it up. Title reconsideration in 6 months. Would have been absolutely impossible without Jamie’s help and resources.
Jamie helped me with a negotiation strategy and custom script that resulted in $30K raise (44% increase!) and stock options, which is just icing on the cake. This was my first time negotiating for myself and it was a huge eye-opening experience!
Jamie has a gift for seeing all the options that exist, and showing you that there is much more possibility in your challenges than you might have thought. She’ll help you find optimism and a sense of choice, confidence and empowerment.
Coaching with Jamie was a wonderful experience. She helped me clarify my career goals and identify ways to align them with my personal values. Within six months of our coaching session, I landed in a position that had everything I had in mind. It was a powerful experience.
Jamie helped me become a negotiator and a leader in charge of my career. She helped me negotiate $15K salary increase when I changed jobs. Her coaching tools helped me regain my confidence through unexpected curve balls at the new job. I got clear on my long-term career aspirations and got buy-in on them from the new employer. The best part is I learned to have fun believing in myself and making my career goals a reality.
Working with Jamie has been a great experience. She listens deeply, distills information, asks targeted follow-up questions, helping me to zero in on what I need to work on. I feel more confident and have specific suggestions on how I can improve my leadership skills.
Within days of taking Jamie’s negotiation workshop, I found myself using the knowledge I acquired in her class to help my client with a difficult business partnership situation. Jamie gave one of the most valuable workshops I’ve been to.
Jamie led my mastermind through a fantastic interactive session on negotiating, complete with role-playing exercises (without making anyone feel awkward). She was very easy to work with and super-professional. Loved the worksheets, too!
There is no way I would have ever learned about [negotiation] in school. Now that I gained some practical knowledge and insight…I feel like I walked away with a valuable ‘secrete weapon.’
Holy kamoly — how you were able to condense a week’s worth of negotiations understanding into an amazing presentation, we don’t know, but we recognize that it takes tremendous skill!
Global Network of Women Peace-builders (GNWP) had the pleasure of working with Jamie who facilitated an interactive advocacy workshop for a select group of feminist activists who gathered for U.N.'s Commission on the Status of Women. The techniques Jamie shared at the workshop made a positive impact on the speeches the attendees later gave at the U.N. We highly recommend Jamie as a coach and trainer.
Jamie is an engaging and clear speaker. I enjoyed this session because of the structure, content, and easy-to-follow visuals -- and I'm glad she's a woman of color sharing her journey and learnings.
I appreciated having the opportunity to attend Jamie's workshop. Jamie was an excellent presenter and provided valuable insight. Thank you for organizing this session!
So helpful and insightful. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire workshop and felt that I came out of it learning so much. Please have more of these career developments for women type workshops in the future. Thank you.
