Indecisive Boss? How to Secure Your Raise with Zero Objection
Here's a familiar scenario:
You: "I’d like to ask for a raise."
Boss: "Well, of course, but I gotta first check with Finance and see what we can do."
Endless back and forth, hemming and hawing…and before you know it, the year is almost over and you STILL haven’t gotten that raise .
My client came up with a brilliant strategy to overcome this objection AHEAD of time. (And generously gave me permission to share it with you)
First, she set the stage by telling her boss, the CEO, "I would like to have a conversation with you about my promotion and raise."
Because she knows her boss well (slow to decide), she gave them a research task that does not require decision making.
She said, "Please go consult with Finance ahead of our meeting, so you know what the company can do in terms of a raise for me."
Result:
Zero time wasted on the back and forth after her raise conversation.
Zero objections to the EXACT raise and promotion she asked for.
In fact, the CEO encouraged her to aim for the COO role. "You deserve it."
Here’s the REAL reason this worked.
Through coaching she unwound her fear thoughts.
She stopped settling for less out of socialized guilt.
She started bringing a confident mindset, knowing that she brings tremendous value at work.
She went from frozen in fear to accessing the creative genius of her negotiating brain.

I'm so incredibly thankful for your coaching. It has changed the way that I articulate the value of my work.
And one more:
Subject: I got the job (exactly the position I wanted)
Jamie,
I just got notification that they're offering me [redacted] ... Officer role.
THANK YOU for everything!!
